Texas Folklife, the Museum of Street Culture, and 508 Amphitheater at Encore Park will be presenting the fifth Big Squeeze Talent Showcase of 2017.
The emphasis for this showcase is “Conjunto,” but they are looking for any and all accordion players ages 21 and under to showcase their performance abilities in any of the three main accordion genre categories: Polka, Cajun/Zydeco and Conjunto. The Polka genre will include German, Czech, and Polish traditions. Cajun/Zydeco will include Creole, Cajun and Zydeco musical traditions. Conjunto will include Norteño and Tejano.
All young accordionists in any of the above styles are encouraged to show up an hour before start time to register for the contest. Special musical guests Los De La Cruz and headliners Los Morales Boyz will perform after the Contest.
