Bruce Wood Dance will pull out all the stops to celebrate its 10th year with Cowboy Songs. Artistic director Joy Bollinger, chairwoman Jacqueline Porter, and associate producer Larry Lane have created an exclusive evening evoking all the romance of a warm sunset across the sweeping West Texas plains.

Audiences will be carried away watching the dancers perform the Texas–inspired choreography of Bruce Wood,® while Broadway’s Joseph Thalken leads the incomparable Ginny Mac, Sonny Franks, and six stellar musicians through a suite of songs by composers Michael Martin Murphey, Lyle Lovett, Wylie Gustafson, and more. The evening begins with cocktails and Texas fare followed by the Third Annual Bruce Award presentation and a stellar show of western song and dance.

The juxtaposition of orchestral and Western music with Wood’s ingenious frolicking and poignant choreography harken the romantic spirit of the American West. Relationships are explored, friendships are made and broken, and love is discovered. The effect is magical, completely engaging, and perfectly reflects Wood’s love of Texas.

The 2019 Bruce Award will be presented to the Nikaidoh Family and Eileen Zuttermeister.
