CentralTrak will begin its new music series CentralSound, an exploration of different types of music from all over experimental genres. The Politics of Pulse will bring back favorite, Ex Mus and feature important works of “downtown music.” This music is a combination of pulse-based minimalism, chance music and structured improvisation.

The music that will be performed is extremely harmonic, persistent and additive over time. Downtown music is best known for what it does not do: confine itself to traditional concert space, performance practices, European musical rhetoric, or the conventions of pop music.

The repertoire will include works from leading pioneers in musical minimalism, Steve Reich’s “Electric Counterpoint” for Electric Guitar and Tape featuring Horace Bray, Selections from James Tenney’s “Postal Pieces” featuring soloists Beth Dodds and Thomas T. Keeley, and Terry Riley’s “In C” performed by an ensemble of DFW-based musicians.
