From the editors of Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, CREATE Mixed Media Retreat will feature artists from Dallas and the surrounding area coming together for five days of creative inspiration.

The retreat brings together more than 20 top mixed-media artists from all over the country who offer their expertise in full-day and half-day workshops within five mixed media categories:

Bookmaking & Art Journaling – gather, bind, and embellish a multi-dimensional book all their own
Printmaking & Surface Design – layer, print, stamp, and stencil on surfaces of varying fibers and dimensions
Mixed Media Stitch – sew, fuse, and embellish their way to amazing fabric art pieces
Collage & Assemblage – combine paint, papers, and found elements to yield unique creations
Mixed Media Jewelry – craft jewelry from varied ephemera for themselves and their friends

Classes are either full day (6 hours) or evening (3 hours, starting at 6 pm) and can be taken on a per-class basis. The classes are $152 for a 6-hour class and $89 for a 3-hour class. Some classes also require the students to bring some of the materials.

While learning from the nation’s top mixed-media artists, students enjoy quality time with others who share their passion for creating art. The event draws artists of all backgrounds, from curious beginners to experienced artists.

Throughout the event students will also enjoy a free and casual social hour in which to work on unfinished projects, socialize with fellow artists & staff and enjoy snacks and drinks.

They can also shop the Artists’ Faire, an event in which artists and art suppliers come together for a high-energy marketplace that welcomes event attendees and the general public. Vendors include some of the instructors as well as outside suppliers.
