2015 Day of Decision/Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/dallasdayofdecision]

On the eve of the United States Supreme Court’s hearing of four same-sex marriage cases, members of the Dallas-Fort Worth community who support marriage equality will gather at the Legacy of Love Monument at Oak Lawn Avenue at Cedar Springs Road.

Confirmed speakers include Liz Rodriguez, HRC DFW Federal Club co-chair; Rev. Alex Byrd of Living Faith Covenant Church; Daniel Scott Cates, local activist and community organizer; Rev. Katie Holmes of Galileo Church in Mansfield; Josh Rudner, Greenhill School student and a leader in the GSA, and Rev. Colleen Darraugh of MCC Greater Dallas. Omar Narvaez, Community Educator for Lambda Legal’s South Central Regional Office, will serve as the keynote speaker.

The vigil will end with a performance by Living Praise Community Ensemble and a community light display. People attending are encouraged to bring signs and flashlights or other light sources. Following the event, a wedding reception honoring all couples who have already married and those who are waiting to marry will be held upstairs at Sue Ellen’s Dallas (3903 Cedar Springs Road). Wedding cake will be served along with a champagne toast. Local musician Jason Huff will serve as the event’s official wedding singer.
