Dallas Historical Society presents Brown Bag Lecture: Santa Laughed All the Way to Dallas with Rose-Mary Rumbley
During the holiday season we find ourselves waiting in anticipation of visits from family and friends, planning those gatherings and looking forward to that special morning when children (and some adults) squeal with delight. Come hear Rose-Mary Rumbley’s version of Christmas past, telling us of the places in Dallas that celebrated in a special way. Of course, Jolly old St. Nick was in Dallas in the 1840s, but in the 1940s and '30s, according to Rose-Mary, he was laughing so hard that he caused all sorts of traffic jams and hysteria in the city. He was present every year, because Santa really loved Dallas, but the history behind some of his past visits is truly worth special notice. And who could tell it better?
Attendees are welcome to bring their own brown bag lunch to enjoy during the presentation.
