Janette Kennedy Gallery at South Side on Lamar will present Soukaa Sings the Blues: The Blues Mood Series. Soukaa’s back from a very long hiatus with her Blues Mood Series. This time she’s singing the blues after losing numerous loved ones who have gone on to heaven. Inspired to paint again by the late Roy Orbison’s song, “I’m in a Blue, Blue Mood,” Soukaa has created pieces from the heart.

Soukaa’s works will be accompanied by special guest artist Ziggy showcasing pieces in ink, charcoal and marker. Ziggy’s artwork uses many different textures with themes that are inspired by lost or abandoned cities such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia and the Aokigahara Forrest (or “Demon Forrest”) in Japan. Ziggy’s drawing are connected more to feelings – loss, power, bravery – than verbatim images.

The exhibit will be display March 3-14.
