The first-annual Gritznic is set to take place in the historic Longhorn Ballroom’s spacious backyard. The brainchild of The Gritz band leader, RC “Rceeezy” Williams and event-producer-slash-talent-buyer Kris Norvet (And Friends Entertainment LLC), the event will serve as the Ballroom’s first music festival. The all-day all-ages event will be part backyard jam, part family picnic. Inspired by the original Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, the lineup will feature local, regional, and national acts representing the eclectic projects and side gigs of the multi-faceted members of The Gritz. Each set will feature multiple acts, jamming together on each other’s tracks, and perhaps a few covers, as well, promising a one-time-only experience for attendees.

The event will kick off with two hours of deejays, local vendors, food trucks, and catered picnic baskets from Dallas’ top restaurants. As the sun sets in the Ballroom backyard, bands will take the stage, rotating through their sets until the true highlight of the day: The Grtiznic Jam, featuring all the day’s acts and some new faces, too. Bleachers and picnic tables will be scattered throughout the backyard, and guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and folding lawn chairs. Outdoor tetherball, volleyball, and other yard games will be available outdoors during the event. Inside the historic Longhorn Ballroom, the event will offer shopping from local vendors, additional beverage stations, and an air conditioned lounge. No outside food or beverages allowed.

Performers will include The Gritz, Cure for Paranoia, DJ Jay Clipp, Kirk Thurmond and The Milennials, Medicine Man Revival, Shaun Martin, Myron Butler and Levi, DJ France Jaye, DJ Jay Clipp, Bobby Sessions, The Texas Gentlemen, Teedra Moses, Chantae Canns, Eric Roberson, Geno Young, Durand Bernarr, and Kenneth Whalum.
