A live painting demonstration will be offered by Fred Villanueva of Ash Studios, a monumental scale social practice art project in Dallas. Villanueva creates large-scale paintings, sculptures and time-based installations. His work combines images with abstract and figurative styles and can be found in galleries and collections all over the world.
Guests will enjoy a Texas-casual theme with Big Al's smokehouse BBQ, live music by Lucky Pierres, and a "Wine Pull." The annual event raises funds for the Museum's educational programs throughout the year - Summer Art Camp for Kids, Heroes of History Field Trips, and specialty workshops for youth and adults.
Another highlight of the evening is the Celebrity Art Gallery, created by iconic comedian Ruth Buzzi and her actor/artist husband Kent Perkins. Paintings and mixed media works were submitted by Emmy-nominated actress and comedian Lily Tomlin, the legendary Carol Burnett, as well as country singing legend Kris Kristofferson.
