Oral Fixation (An Obsession with True Life Tales) will send off its fourth season with an evening of true, personal tales on the theme, “Happy Camper.”

Seven Dallasites will share their happy place, including:

  • Ken Bethea, who quit his corporate gig at age 30 to pursue life as a musician and created the Old 97’s.
  • Randy Brown, who found himself deep in the heart of the Grand Canyon without a lifeline.
  • Ryan Gifford-Robinson, a man who works as a counselor at a remarkable camp for disabled youth.
  • Xuan Nguyen, a self-described "weird kid" who finally fulfills her dream of camping at a Vietnamese Catholic retreat.
  • Charles Scudder ,whose passion for the Goatman ghost story turns into investigative reporting.
  • Melissa Smrekar, who learns at a mandatory 8th grade camping trip that "it's really liberating to say no to shit you hate."
  • Creator Nicole Stewart, who shares how getting kicked out of her summer camp in Colorado taught her it was okay to fail.
