In conjunction with the Dallas Museum of Art’s exhibition Nur: Light in Art and Science from the Islamic World, Undermain Theatre continues its reading series with Arabian Nights, a selection of tales from the One Thousand and One Nights.

One of the great treasures of world literature, Arabian Nights relates the story of the brave Shahrazad, who attempts to save her own life, and that of all the women of the kingdom, with her ingenious, interlocking, and never-ending tales. In the bounds of her imagination are fantasies of lust, adventure, and amazement.

Undermain’s reading draws from the oldest extant version of the Nights and includes stories originally compiled during the Islamic Golden Age. This reading is directed by Stephen Foglia.
