Wall Gallery will present David Canright: Great Battles of the Ancient World. Canright employs the most rudimentary and primitive form of representation to capture the energy, enormity and physical form of the major battles of the classical world.

The simple technique using pen and ink on paper, drawing the two-dimensional stick figure allows Canright to render thousands and thousands of soldiers in each picture, revealing shifting densities, curling lines, and strangely beautiful patterns within these terrible engagements. When viewed from afar, these pieces become almost pure abstractions, but on closer inspection they unfold like tragic stories.

Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through June 15.
