Coffee shop/wine bar in the Design District comes from veteran Dallas restaurateur and passionate coffee aficionado Russell Hayward. Beans are from local roaster Coffee Eiland. In place of the by-now-ho-hum La Marzocco, the espresso machine is a Synesso Hydra. Ascension offers all sorts of options for regular coffee, including the pourover method and siphoning, an old-school technique that uses vapor pressure to create a clean, smooth cup. In addition to coffee, there is a large menu of vittles and wines by the glass.
