Dallas Heritage Village
Do you feel like your kids have it way too easy, what with air conditioning, TV, and a washer and dryer always at the ready? Take them back in time to the 19th century with a trip to Dallas Heritage Village. Representing life in North Texas from about 1840 to 1910, the village contains 24,000 objects and archival materials, including tools, furnishings and photographs. Some of the historic buildings represented are the Worth Hotel, the MKT Depot and the Main Street Saloon. Although admission usually runs $9 for adults and $5 for children, on the third Sunday of the month, kids get in for free. Heritage Village is closed during the months of January and August, as well as on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
