The Dallas Zoo, with its now-iconic giraffe sculpture standing sentry at the entrance, has been open since 1888. It houses around 430 species and 2,200 different animals and is known for a exhibits such as the Giants of the Savanna, the relatively new home for elephants, giraffes, zebras and other African species. The Koala Walkabout is a new habitat for marsupials, and a Wildlife Amphitheater spotlights birds in flight.
