Located a block away from Dealey Plaza, where the 35th president was assassinated, John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza is a place of quiet reflection. Eight columns support the all-white granite structure, which stands 30 feet high and 50 feet wide. Built in 1970 on land donated by the city of Dallas, the memorial contains only three written words — John Fitzgerald Kennedy — carved into the stone and painted gold.
