Stretching 3.5 miles from American Airlines Center to the edge of SMU, the Katy Trail is a popular hike and bike path in the heart of Dallas. Aside from a string of armed robberies on the trail in spring 2012, it is a generally safe and well-trafficked area. A seat on the patio at the Katy Trail Ice House is the perfect perch from which to watch the runners on the trail.
