Ali Baba Mediterranean Grill (closed)
Brothers Adam and Jalal Chanaa set the standard for Middle Eastern food in Dallas in 1990 when they opened the first Ali Baba on Lower Greenville. Their hummus, tabbouleh and baba ghanoush are on the money, and they do fine grilled kebabs such as chicken, ground beef (a.k.a. kafta) and lamb. Specialties include kibbie — ground beef with wheat and almond — and rotisserie chicken, the restaurant’s most popular dish. The restaurant moved to Lakewood in 2008, leaving behind Greenville Avenue's hole-in-the-wall vibe but gaining a convenient parking lot in the trade.
