The ownership of Cafe Istanbul may have changed, but the two main customer attractions remain. 1. It's one of the few places that focuses on Turkish recipes in particular, and 2. they still have belly dancers every Friday and Saturday nights. On the menu, you'll find Middle Eastern staples such as hummus, dolmas and falafel, but also Turkish dishes like manti, a dumpling filled with ground lamb and mint and topped with garlic yogurt sauce. Iskender is a combination of lamb and beef served with house-made pita. Turkish coffee, potent and sweet, is itself worth the trip.
