Empire Baking Company
Empire Baking Company was a game-changer when Meaders and Robert Ozarow opened it in Dallas in 1992, bringing a new benchmark of quality to bread and raising awareness not just for bread but for the concept of artisanal goods. Empire is home to the finest breads in Dallas, made with best-quality ingredients and European methods, using starters and long rising periods for their loaves. They do baguettes, sourdough loaves, and a wide variety of other options such as whole wheat farm, raisin pumpernickel, and jalapeño cheese, as well as seasonal items such as hot cross buns for Easter. The Inwood Village shop also sells croissants, pastries, cookies, jams, and prepared sandwiches, such as chicken salad and peppered turkey, plus dips, jellies, and spreads.
