Hattie's is a Bishop Arts pioneer, opening there in 2002 at a time when the neighborhood was still mostly low-key. With its white tablecloths and minimal yet warm decor, the restaurant has a civilizing, gentlemanly quality. The cuisine is "low country" Southern comfort food, with seafood, grits, fried green tomatoes, and the signature prosciutto-wrapped figs stuffed with blue cheese and walnuts. It was a pioneer on the brunch front as well.
