The official business at AllGood Cafe is to serve dependable breakfast, lunch and dinner in a comfortable, ramshackle, Austin-esque spot in Deep Ellum. It’s comfort food with a Tex-Mex twist: The eggs come with a side of black beans, pico de gallo and tortillas, and the grilled cheese sandwich has roasted green chiles. The menu is highly veg-friendly, with an array of vegetable side dishes, yet the restaurant is also known for doing a fine chicken-fried steak. Unofficially, AllGood serves as headquarters for Dallas’ Americana scene. You can see roots-rock bands perform on the small stage and then stalk – er, spot – them the next morning at breakfast.
Late-riser alert: AllGood serves breakfast until 3 pm.
