Nasher Sculpture
Raymond D. Nasher was a prominent civic leader and art collector who strove to establish Dallas as an epicenter of American culture. He and his wife, Patsy, accumulated what the New York Times called “one of the best collections of modern and contemporary sculpture.” Several respected national art museums vied for Nasher’s collection over the years, but ultimately he decided to keep the collection in Dallas, and the Renzo Piano-designed Nasher Sculpture Center opened in 2003. The museum’s collection includes works from such renowned artists as Pablo Picasso, Joseph Beuys, Constantin Brancusi, Donald Judd, Jeff Koons and Claes Oldenburg – inside and in the exquisite garden. In addition to its extensive collection, the center hosts traveling sculptural exhibits. If you work up an appetite sculpture gazing, grab a bite at the on-site Wolfgang Puck cafe.
Admission is free the first Saturday of each month.
