Tickets for the Dallas premiere of The Book of Mormon, which opens at the Winspear Opera House on Wednesday, August 21, have been a hot commodity ever since they went on sale.

The precious few remaining for the show's short 10-day, 16-show run start at $40 and go as high as $150. Luckily, AT&T Performing Arts Center plans to sell some of them on the cheap. Two-and-a-half hours before each performance, the production will accept on-site entries for a pre-show lottery of a limited number of $25 tickets.

Entrants can request one or two tickets, with the lucky winners being drawn two hours prior to the show. Naturally, you can only put your name in once and you must be present when your name is called or you're out of luck.

There's no word on exactly how many seats will be available for each show and seat locations are not guaranteed. But if you missed getting tickets initially, chances are you won't mind sitting separately to get a chance to see the Tony Award-winning musical in person.

The lottery is based on a similar procedure the show has used during its run on Broadway. That lottery can sometimes draw as many as 800 people, so it's probably best to show up early. The national production of The Book of Mormon has conducted lotteries at each of its stops.
