Police investigate murder-suicide at East Dallas bar

Two people are dead after an altercation at a bar in East Dallas. According to police, Eva Esther Garcia, 47, and Juan Mario Hernandez, 59, arrived at Johnny Club Vegas in the 100 block of North Collett Avenue on the evening of February 25.

Although the couple had been in a relationship for about a year, each arrived separately to the club that night, police say. After arguing with Garcia, Hernandez left the location but returned around 8:45 pm.

According to witness accounts, police believe Hernandez shot Garcia several times and then turned the gun on himself. Garcia's body was found near the door of the bar with gunshot wounds to the upper body; Hernandez had been shot in the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Max Geron said the department has not located any prior reports of domestic violence between Garcia and Hernandez. No one else at the club was reported to be injured, and police are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.
