A sugar daddy surplus? Dallas leads Texas in old creeps
All you Dallas sugar babies, rejoice: You're getting paid with the best of them. Dallas sugar daddies give their companions the eighth-largest monthly allowance in the country — $4,721 — according to surreptitious dating site SeekingArrangement.com.
The site recently released a comparison between today's benefactors and 2007's, and there are some drastic changes. Looking for a sugar daddy? Here's a tip: Get silver foxes like Richard Gere and George Clooney out of your head. The one you're looking for probably isn't who you'd expect — or where you'd expect him.
The stats points to Atlanta — where there are 5.98 sugar daddies for every 1,000 male residents — as the Sugar Daddy Capital of the United States.
According to the site, the sugar daddy demographics have shifted in recent years, from often-married 44-year-olds to unmarried men in their late 30s.
"Not only is the face of the modern sugar daddy changing, but his needs are as well," Brandon Wade, founder and CEO of SeekingArrangement.com, said in a statement. "Men who gain their wealth at a young age understand that time can't be wasted chasing fruitless leads."
A sugar daddy's average annual income was more than $320,000 when the site first launched in 2007, but now his salary rings in at $273,301 per year. Proportionately, sugar babies are receiving less allowance, down from an average of $74,772 to $61,200 — still not a sum to sneer at.
The stats points to Atlanta — where there are 5.98 sugar daddies for every 1,000 male residents — as the Sugar Daddy Capital of the United States. Scottsdale, Arizona, ranks as the No. 2 spot for a damsel in distress to land a man, followed by San Francisco, Tampa and Boston.
Austin ranked No. 10 on the list (there you'll find 3.13 sugar daddies for every 1,000 adult men in the city) and Houston took No. 18 (the ratio is closer to 1.85 in 1,000 there), but neither city comes close to touching Dallas in the monthly allowance (though our $4,721 pales to Miami's nation-leading $6,166).
New York and Los Angeles round out the top three, with $5,692 and $5,448 average monthly payments.
