The North Texas Film Critics Association — of which our Alex Bentley is a member — has come out with its list of awards for movies in 2015, naming director Ridley Scott's The Martian as Best Picture.

The Matt Damon-starring science fiction epic was one of only two films to receive multiple awards from the NTFCA, also scoring a Best Director award for Scott. The Revenant received two awards, one for star Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor and one for Emmanuel Lubezki for Best Cinematography. (The Revenant will be released wide on Friday, January 8.)

Other 2015 awards are as follows:

  • Best Actress: Brie Larson, Room
  • Best Supporting Actor: Idris Elba, Beasts of No Nation
  • Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight
  • Best Documentary: Amy (Asif Kapadia, director)
  • Best Foreign Film: Son of Saul (Hungary; László Nemes, director)
  • Best Animated Feature: Inside Out

You can see how the NTFCA's award-winners stack up against the Oscars when the Academy Awards nominations are announced on January 14.
