On February 13, CBS 48 Hours takes on a case that shocked North Texans: the murders of Kaufman County district attorneys Mark Hasse and Mike McLelland and McLelland's wife, Cynthia. One of the show's producers, Claire St. Amant, has CultureMap ties.

Our former Dallas managing editor covered the story, from the moment the news broke that Hasse had been gunned down in front of the courthouse to the indictment of Kim and Eric Williams.

In the sneak peek of the show, titled Target Justice, you can watch tax assessor Tonya Ratcliff, attorney Lenda Bush, and KTVT-TV news producer Jack Douglas recall that "daring daylight attack" on January 31, 2013.

"I hope the people who did this are watching," said DA McLelland in a press conference following the attack. "We're going to pull you out of whatever hole you're in. And we're going to bring you back, and let the people of Kaufman County prosecute you."

McLelland and his wife were slain in their home only two months later. The preview ends eerily, as McLelland says this: "When you deal with bad people, you know there is always the potential for these bad people to do something bad to you."

St. Amant first became involved with 48 Hours when the news magazine delved into the bizarre case of Michele Williams, dubbed the Keller Black Widow, which St. Amant also covered for CultureMap. She worked with 48 Hours on the Williams piece while still with CultureMap and eventually joined the show as its Texas producer in November 2014.

Target Justice airs at 7 pm CST on Saturday, February 13.
