There are few bigger names in the history of modern music than Paul Simon and Sting, and they'll add to their respective legends when they team up for an upcoming tour, which will stop at American Airlines Center on Sunday, February 9.

The "On Stage Together" tour is scheduled to hit 18 cities across North America in February and March 2014, starting with Houston on February 8. The tour will feature the two performing together as well as separately, ensuring that fans of both won't go home unhappy.

Both Simon and Sting, of course, came to fame as part of a band — Simon with Simon & Garfunkel and Sting with The Police. But the fame each has achieved as a solo act has equaled or surpassed previous efforts, thanks in part to their respective philanthropic work.

Simon has played on his musician emeritus status since 1990, releasing only five albums in that span. Sting has been a bit more steady, putting out new or reworked material at least once every four years since he went solo in 1985, including 2013's The Last Ship.

The reason they're going on tour together? According to an interview in the New York Times, it was a spark that came from a recent pop-in by Simon at one of Sting's concerts. The two are old friends and found that performing together got their musical juices flowing.

Tickets for the Dallas stop go on sale to the general public on Monday, November 18. However, members of both musicians' fan clubs have access to pre-sales starting Wednesday, October 6. American Express cardholders will also have their own pre-sale.
