If you've lived or spent time in Dallas-Fort Worth, you might have noticed something: brick houses are very, very popular here. There's a very good reason why, and it goes beyond aesthetics (though brick homes certainly do have a solid appeal).

Turns out DFW is in the "brick belt," a phrase which will have gardeners nodding their heads. Our soil is so clay-rich that it can support producing more bricks than any other state. Acme Brick, for example, is headquartered in Fort Worth and is the largest brick-producing company in the United States. Within this brick belt is a band called the Wilcox formation, which has no iron in it and is therefore even better for brickmaking. The Wilcox formation runs from San Antonio up to Arkansas, and North Texas sits smack in the middle of the mother lode of brickmaking clay.

Opendoor is one of the largest buyers and sellers of real estate in DFW, and it has 300-plus beautiful homes on the market right now. This includes several brick beauties listed in primo neighborhoods in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and here are 10 of our favorites. Like what you see? Download the Opendoor app and tour any of these homes from 6 am-9 pm, seven days a week.
