The home at 7204 Ripley St. in McKinney might have been built in 2011, but it could have come straight from Andy Griffith’s Mayberry. Built by Darling Homes, the two-story Tucker Hill charmer is designed to evoke pre-World War II homes, from the shallow setback, expansive front porch and plantation shutters to the glass transom in the kitchen entrance.

The 3,436-square-foot, four-bedroom, three-bath house, listed for $455,000, comes with an open-concept kitchen and living area, study, breakfast nook, and dining room downstairs; a second living area and media room can be found upstairs. Hardwood floors run throughout the first floor, including the 17-by-15 master bedroom.

The side yard runs nearly the depth of the house and includes a covered patio and stone landscaping perfect for a grill, and there is an attached oversized two-car garage with room for a golf cart or workshop.

Ebby Halliday agent Lisa Birdsong says the Tucker Hill planned community facilitates relationships between neighbors, and the houses don’t all look the same.

“They want that front-porch lifestyle,” she says. “They wanted to take people back to the simple life. It’s a very social neighborhood with lots of homeowner events.”

Tucker Hill, located within Proper ISD, includes a community pool, and it’s a short drive to Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.

Birdsong says that the home features energy-efficient designs, including a radiant barrier and double-paned windows. “Utility costs are very well-maintained,” she says.
