Acclaimed ramen shop brings notable noodles to new niche in Richardson

One of the most acclaimed ramen concepts in Dallas-Fort Worth is opening a third location. Oni Ramen, the ramen restaurant from vaunted chef Jesús García, will open a location in the CityLine development at 1415 State St., in Richardson. According to a release, it'll open in summer 2019.

García opened the original in Fort Worth's West 7th District in 2016, after having worked as a sushi chef at restaurants such as Little Lilly, Shinjuku Station, Blue Sushi, Five Sixty By Wolfgang Puck, and Sushi Yoko.

He opened a second location in Dallas' Deep Ellum in 2017.

Oni's menu features a variety of classic and signature ramen options, with at least seven kinds of ramen, such as tonkotsu ramen and tsukemen, the ramen cousin where noodles and other ingredients are served separately from the broth, as well as small plates and handcrafted cocktails.

A new signature item is the Tokyo Black, a spicy garlic light chicken broth with double ancho chili lime glazed pork belly and a soft-boiled marinated egg, bamboo shoots, leafy greens, mustard greens, green onions, and black garlic oil.

The Texas Mazemen is a twist on East meets Texas, with smoked pork belly, soft marinated egg, sweet corn, mustard greens, jalapeños, cilantro, green onions, and barbecue sauce.

This location will feature self-serve kiosks, similar to the Deep Ellum location. There'll be a full bar with full service and several new signature cocktails; and late-night hours, until 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

García was slated to open a location at CityLine back in 2017, before he withdrew. CityLine prevailed, and now they will have their Oni.

In addition to Oni, CityLine will also welcome Coolgreens, a healthy concept based in Oklahoma.

Coolgreens serves salads and wraps, quinoa bowls, flatbreads, and sandwiches with whole and fresh produce and clean ingredients. Dressings are made in-house daily. The menu from chef Vuong Nguyen accommodates all dietary lifestyles, including Paleo, keto, and Whole 30.

CityLine currently boasts than 50 dining and retail options with Whole Foods Market as anchor, an Aloft hotel, seven office buildings home to State Farm and Raytheon, and a wellness office building anchored by Texas Health Resources and Children’s Medical Center.
