Plano finally gets its own True Food Kitchen, the restaurant concept from Arizona-based Fox Restaurant Concepts, with a branch set to open at the Legacy West complex on May 23.

Entrepreneur and restaurant visionary Sam Fox opened the first True Food Kitchen in Phoenix in 2008. This is the second in the Dallas area; the first opened at Preston Center in 2013, where it does boffo business with the lunching ladies and yoga set.

TFK positions itself as catering to nearly every food preference with a variety of gluten-free, naturally organic, vegetarian, and vegan offerings. Signature dishes include an "inside out" quinoa burger that is a somewhat ridiculous contraption in which two quinoa patties are supposed to substitute for a bun. They also do bowls, salads, pizzas, fruit and vegetable juices, seasonal cocktails, wine, and local beers.

CEO Christine Barone says in a release that TFK and Plano make a good match. "A city like Plano — home to active young families and booming businesses alike — was a natural fit for True Food Kitchen, a brand committed to the thriving communities it serves," she says. Much booming and thriving going on there.

The restaurant will feature its signature open kitchen, natural woods, earthy color scheme, natural elements, and greenery, including indoor/outdoor garden basins filled with herbs and spices. Eco-friendly materials include hardwood floors made of reclaimed wood, and dining chairs made of recycled soda bottles. The Plano location will also feature a private dining room available for small to mid-sized private group gatherings and events.

There are 17 locations throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Florida, and Virginia, with five more locations planned to open throughout 2017, including Plano.
