If you want to be the first to step foot in the new Pecan Lodge opening in Deep Ellum this month, Carry The Load has a way: The nonprofit is gifting its top fundraisers with a private dinner ahead of the barbecue restaurant’s opening day.
Carry The Load, CultureMap’s nonprofit partner for 2014, puts on the annual Dallas Memorial March as an interactive way for Americans to remember, honor and celebrate Memorial Day in dedication to military, law enforcement, firefighters and rescue personnel who sacrifice for us daily. Funds raised during Memorial May programs allow Carry The Load to grow its vision and execute its mission to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day, as well as provide existing nonprofit partners with valuable visibility, resources and meaningful connections.
Memorial March participants who raise the most money will be treated to Pecan Lodge barbecue as a thank you from Carry The Load.
“Pecan Lodge wanted to partner with Carry The Load and suggested that they host a dinner for us before they opened,” says Brian Gile, Carry The Load’s media director. “We of course wanted to reward our top fundraisers and thought this would be a great opportunity to give them a sneak peek at what will be the hottest new BBQ restaurant in town.”
This year’s Memorial March is set for May 25-26 at Reverchon Park. Participants walk for 20 hours and 14 minutes to honor and celebrate our nation’s heroes. You can join in the Memorial March at any time during the 20 hours and walk for as long or as little as you like.
Everyone is invited to participate regardless of fitness level or ability. To learn more, check out this video clip from last year:
Those interested in the Dallas Memorial March can sign up as individual, join a team or even start a team. The event’s top fundraisers will earn a coveted seat to the Pecan Lodge appreciation dinner.
How will you know if you’re in this elite group? You’ll get an official invitation with all of the details.
