Autumn is a handful of days away, and it’s still in the 90s. North Texas can be fun like that. But Oktoberfest is almost here and, with it, the chance to add a couple of inches to our waistlines.

It’s not the only gluttonous festival on tap for this weekend, however. BurgerFest takes over Deep Ellum, and the Food Truck Palooza raises money for the North Texas Food Bank.

That’s to say nothing of the dinner at Lark on the Park with Garrett Oliver, one of the wisest beer experts in the world, or the dinner at Cook Hall featuring Dallas’ own whiskey distillery

Wednesday, September 18

The Lark on the Park Beer Experience with Garrett Oliver
Lark on the Park hosts Garrett Oliver, world-renowned beer expert and brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery, for a special beer tasting beginning at 6:30 pm. Oliver leads guests on a six beer tasting experience coupled with food from Lark chefs. Seats are $80 and can be reserved at 214-855-5275.

Addison Oktoberfest
Addison Oktoberfest is back and ready for another round as one of the best beer parties outside of Bavaria. Everything is as you expect it to be, with tons of food and beer, but the big addition this year is Chamberlain’s Brau Haus, a $49 meal featuring Bavarian braised pork with roasted onion potatoes and Paulaner jus, a trio of German sausages and plenty more. Seatings are at 6 and 8 pm on Thursday and Friday and 4 and 6 pm on Saturday. Tickets to the Brau Haus can be ordered online and include entry into Oktoberfest as well as a $25 gift card good at Chamberlain’s Steak and Chop House or Chamberlain’s Fish Market Grill.
