Opening day has arrived for Big Little Market, the pantry and beverage bar at Water Street, the pedestrian-friendly mixed-use community in Las Colinas that overlooks Lake Carolyn.

Half specialty grocery store and half deli, Big Little Market also serves as a convenient drop-in for drinks and snacks. They sell beer, wine, and alcohol, as well, and are a serious amenity for those who live, work, and commute nearby.

Its offerings include muffins, pastries, coffee, sandwiches, and meals to go such as quinoa bowls.

They also boast a self-serve soda machine by Stubborn, thewhich is made with all natural flavors and has no artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup.

Owner Talitha Ledet is a former private-school administrator with a passion for building community.

"Our store offers traditional groceries and produce, as well as specialty vegan, gluten/dairy-free and organic items; beer, wine and meals to-go, such as specialty deli sandwiches, salads, wraps and heat-and-eat meals; pastries, a coffee bar, breakfast items and gift items," Ledet says in a release.

The store will hold an official grand opening on October 13 from 9 am-2 pm with in-store specials plus live music from DFW’s Boxcar Bandits; a pumpkin patch with a decorating station; and potato sack races with prizes. How down-home can you get.

Water Street will simultaneously host its first Farmer's Market that day with vendors that include Cita's Salsa, Pop Star Frozen Treats, Cultivar Coffee Bar & Roaster, The Tamale Company, SoCo Ginger Beer, Health Bomz, Cassie Green Health, Cookies, Crumbs and Crust, Smokin’ Upstream, Manny’s Cortado, Lilly Point Farms Granola, Round Rock Honey, and more.

"The Farmer's Market also allows us to work toward our mission of supporting local vendors," Ledet says. “And it lets our customers actually meet the creators of their favorite foods face-to-face."

Water Street is located at 5270 N. O’Connor Blvd, just east of State Highway 114. There are currently four retail spaces available for lease in addition to opportunities for short-term leases. Adjacent is Gables Water Street which offers one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes available for rent; approximately 60 percent have water views.
