Vegucational Event
Howard Stern sidekick Robin Quivers stirs up Texas Veggie Fair 2014
The Texas Veggie Fair has recruited newly vegan Howard Stern sidekick and author Robin Quivers to help kick off the 2014 edition. Quivers will be at McKinney Avenue Contemporary on October 18, 3-5 pm, for a discussion and book signing of The Vegucation of Robin — in advance of its on-sale date.
The book documents Quivers’ journey to adopt a vegan lifestyle after a devastating cancer diagnosis. Growing up, she thought very little about the relationship between food and feeling healthy; she didn’t even really care for vegetables. But she began to notice family members fall victim to diabetes and heart disease as a result of their diets.
When she was diagnosed with cancer, Quivers adopted a vegan diet, which she fully attributes to her recovery. The Vegucation of Robin also includes more than 90 vegan recipes by chef Christopher Sanchez.
The book is not scheduled to be released until November, but Texas Veggie Fair will have advance copies for sale, and those who attend this pre-fair event can purchase books for Quivers to sign. The event is free, but space is limited, so you must RSVP to attend.
Texas Veggie Fair, now in its fifth year, brings together thousands to celebrate, learn about and experience plant-based lifestyle options. The free event, which takes place October 19 at Reverchon Park in Dallas, features vegan food and product vendors, local beer garden, live music, chef demos, yoga, and speakers from across the country.
