There's a projected opening date for the newest Sprouts Farmers Market, coming to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, specifically to Mesquite.

The supermarket company will soon finish construction on its new location, a 28,000-square-foot store at 1220 N. Town East Blvd., and will open in the spring on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 am.

Details about the grand opening celebration, employment opportunities, and a local hiring event will be announced at a later date.

March may seem a long way off but let's face it, we're almost into 2020.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Sprouts is noted for offering thousands of healthy items, including its own Sprouts Brand product line; and occupying slightly smaller footprint stores, about 30,000 square feet versus the 60,000-square-foot size of a large Tom Thumb.

Their shopping experience includes fresh produce, a deli with prepared entrees and side dishes, a butcher shop and fish market, a vitamins and supplements department, and a large section of bulk bins with items, such as nuts, grains, and chocolates.

Sprouts operates more than 300 stores in 20 states. They've been a driving force for making healthy food affordable and accessible, and have also paved the way for numerous natural brands.

Sprouts VP Dan Croce says in a release that Sprouts believes healthy food shouldn't be a luxury. Sprouts' prices are lower than Whole Foods Market. "We're looking forward to serving our new neighbors in Mesquite with fresh, natural, and organic groceries at great prices," Croce says.

Located at the intersection of Galloway Road, in what was previously a Babies R Us, the new Sprouts is a coup for the city of Mesquite. City manager Cliff Keheley says in a statement that the community is excited.

"The City Council’s strategic goal of maintaining a vibrant economy includes investments by new businesses," Keheley says. "This announcement by Sprouts to choose Mesquite as their newest expansion location is an indication that our overall economy is growing and remaining relevant in our retail areas."

There are currently 23 Sprouts stores in the DFW area, with the closest located in Rowlett. Other stores are in East Dallas, Frisco, Carrollton, Allen, Plano, Richardson, Lake Highlands, McKinney, Fort Worth, Arlington, Denton, and Southlake.
