New Kroger at Cityplace changes the grocery game for in-town shoppers

Some grocery chains have taken a step back from the self-serve checkout model, but Kroger has doubled down at the Cityplace store, with six self-serve lanes, seven express lanes and 20 lanes total. A monitor counts the number of waiting customers and alerts staffers when the lines get too long.
