What: Amelia Earhart Luncheon presented by Zonta Club of Dallas

Where: Arlington Hall at Lee Park

The 411: This annual event has a very specific purpose: to provide young women with a forum to explore potential career paths in science and math fields such as aviation, aerospace, engineering and medicine. So while supporters lunched, they also listened to several inspirational speakers — two of which are just seniors at the School for the Talented and Gifted at Yvonne A. Townview Magnet Center in Dallas: Taylor Holloway, who wants to study computer science, statistics and analytics, and Cameron Wicks, a Girl Scout Gold Award winner and math and science student who wants to study food science and nutrition. Amelia Earhart fellow Hieu Truong also spoke about her current adventures: working on hybrid composite materials for space vehicles while pursuing mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University.

Funds raised for the luncheon will be divided between two agencies the club supports — Our Friend’s Place and VMLC — as well as international projects and scholarships. Founded in 1924, Zonta Club of Dallas is a member of Zonta International, a 95-year-old global organization of executives and professionals in business working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.
