What: Children First: An Evening With UNICEF

Where: Sixty Five Hundred

The 411: On Friday night, the North Texas regional office of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF hosted this first-time Dallas event supporting the organizations’s life-saving programs worldwide. More than 300 philanthropists showed up for dinner, a live auction and performance by violinist Bobby Yang. American Airlines was presented the inaugural UNICEF Children First Award, celebrating their more than 20-year commitment to raising awareness and funds for children worldwide through UNICEF’s Change for Good Program. The airline’s vice president of flight service, Hector Adler, along with Change for Good volunteers John Bush, Julie Mucciacciaro, Laura Schulz and Gay Zara, accepted the award on behalf of the airline.

The $600,000 raised during the live auction — featuring such items as a Tyson Chandler and Dallas Mavericks Experience, a UNICEF field visit to see one of UNICEF’s programs around the world, and a trip for two to New York Fashion Week in September 2015 — benefited UNICEF’s Let Us Learn program that supports educational projects in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Liberia, Madagascar and Nepal.

Who: Caryl Stern, co-chairs Selwyn Rayzor and D’Andra Simmons, Serena Simmons Connelly, Kimberly Chandler, Jessica Nowitzki, Catie and Aaron Enrico, Joyce Goss, Rich Moses and Moll Anderson.
