Haute horseplay makes for yet another successful Dallas Equest Gala
What: Equest Gala 2017
Where: Texas Horse Park
The 411: Nearly 500 people showed up to the 36th annual Field of Dreams-themed Equest Gala, despite a last-minute date change to Sunday because of a stormy weather forecast. Guests and proud supporters perused the venue while sipping on margaritas and noshing on bites from both the biscuit bar and taco station. Veteran guests knew, however, to save their appetites for the delicious sit-down dinner provided by Farm to Market Catering.
Once indulging in a spirit or two, attendees waited turns to plant one on Equest mini ambassadors Cisco and Date at the kissing booth. Ray Johnston performed an acoustic set during the reception, which provided a lovely soundtrack to such a special evening. And while there was plenty of food, drinks, and even a rowdy auction, the highlight of the evening was watching the Equest riders proudly demonstrate their skills.
Founded in 1981, Equest provides therapeutic sports riding classes and hippotherapy to adults and children with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. It’s one of the largest nonprofit therapeutic riding centers in Texas.
