Rain didn't dampen the excitement at the Blue Cure Foundation benefit at HotelZaZa
It’s a universal truth that Hotel ZaZa has all the right tools to throw a successful party — swanky pool, cool bar and great Uptown location — but the hotel also knows how to put on one hell of a benefit.
Friday night ZaZa hosted the Blue Cure party supporting prostate cancer awareness. The original plan was for guests — including Shelly Klein, Kathy Hamilton, Steve Kemble, Jef Tingley, Benny Black, LeeAnne Locken, Amanda Dunbar, Lisa Knox, Jessica and Justin Baldwin, Doug Magditch, Hamilton Sneed, Mimi and Jay Morris, and Sandy Crossing — to sip on signature cocktails, nosh on tasty bites, and enjoy beats by DJ Hyplektro and handsome drummer Don Vaughn outside. But a downpour brought the blue-drenched party (even the staff wore blue wigs) inside to Dragonfly.
No harm done. In fact, the fashion viewing, assembled by The Pro Artist Group, which displayed the designs of locals Elizabeth Anyaa, Izavel and Edgar Gomez and the iconic Escada, was more enjoyable in the cool and dry interior. And when the rain calmed down, guests flooded the space around the pool with drinks in-hand and all eyes on Vaughn.
Guests were also asked to tweet #Party4ACure to help raise awareness for the foundation. Our favorite tweet came from @adamdewar: #party4acure is making it rain with support at Hotel ZaZa tonight.
The hotel donated 100 percent of the evening's proceeds to the Blue Cure Foundation.
