More than 900 guests dressed in their best cowboy chic attire headed over to the Omni Dallas hotel for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Evening Under the Stars Party. Along with funds raised at the golf classic, held at the Stonebriar Country Club, more than $900,000 was collected for St. Jude to aid in its efforts to advance cancer research.
Event co-chairs Marian Haggar Bryan and Lydia Haggar Novakov, along with party chair Cindy Feld, welcomed partygoers to the swanky soiree complete with live and silent auctions, performances from some of Nashville’s top singer-songwriters, and a seated dinner.
Guests — including Amanda Blackman, Holly Brooks, Jaclyn Dennis, Samantha Smith, Holly and Doug Brooks, Buck Williams, Perry Smith, and Carole and Scott Murray — mingled among the silent auction items to start the evening, and the room was filled with glasses of bubbles and bling. Oh, yes. You know that Dallasites love a good glass of champagne. So much so that $100 glasses were sold to raise funds for St. Jude.
One special glass had a 1-carat diamond at the bottom. The others? Just a 1-carat cubic zirconia stone. But, hey, it's for the kids.
As guests dined, big news was announced: Chili's Grill and Bar donated $50 million to St Jude's. This is the largest donation from a single-partner campaign in the hospital's history. Bravo, Chili's.
Ten packages were then sold at the live auction. The highlight was a dine around town with Kent Rathbun. The Dallas celebrity chef and known philanthropist took the stage and ended up donating two packages to the two highest bidders. You're the best, Kent.
Just when guests thought that the Evening Under the Stars couldn't get any better, unforgettable performances by Sonny Curtis, Tommy Lee James, Don Poythress and Phillip White rocked and rolled the crowd until an evening under the stars turned into a dapper dance at dawn.
