Gorgeous garden party christens new Dallas Arboretum attraction
What: A Tasteful Place Gala
Where: Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
The 411: Co-ChairsBarbara Bigham and Robin Carreker had picture-perfect fall weather on their side when they welcomed 400 guests dressed in their best "garden gorgeous" to celebrate and christen The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden's latest attraction — A Tasteful Place. As if to show off this 3.5-acre attraction of fruits, vegetable, herbs, and flowers, Bigham donned a skirt of lettuces, Brussels sprouts, carrots, artichokes, and a kale train created Dr. Delphinium Design + Events. Now that's some major dedication from the event co-chair. Snaps, indeed.
The evening kicked off with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while jazz musician Mark Toussaint (and band) entertained the crowd. As the sun set over White Rock Lake, Bigham welcomed event attendees and spoke a little about A Tasteful Place and its plans to feature cooking demonstrations, daily tastings, special events, and even gardening advice. Attendees then enjoyed a four-course meal prepared and served by Chef Sharon Van Meter before retreating to the Charlotte and Donald Test Pavilion for desserts and a champagne toast.
