Maple Avenue is getting a trio of restaurants that includes Kansas City-style barbecue and an Italian restaurant from Nonna owner Julian Barsotti.
It's part of a $3.5 million development called the Maple Avenue Dining District that will buttress a residential development from Crow Holdings in the Oak Lawn neighborhood, including the restoration and expansion of the Old Parkland Campus, and Trammell Crow Residential's construction of two multifamily developments: 4110 Fairmount and the Alexan Fairmount.
"When we began the initial restoration of Old Parkland Campus, we knew the Oak Lawn neighborhood, and Maple Avenue specifically, represented important chapters in Dallas' history," said Crow Holdings CEO Harlan Crow. "Our development efforts are focused on preserving this character while providing accessible, high-quality and thoughtfully designed entertainment, dining, and lifestyle options that enhance the neighborhood and provide an additional amenity for our Old Parkland Campus tenants."
The district will include three restaurants:
- 18th & Vine Barbeque, opening in the spring
- A "Roman tavern" concept developed by Barsotti and the Donohoe Brothers of The Dram, opening this summer
- A third restaurant TBA
The area will include architecture and landscape design that reflects the historical birth of the Oak Lawn neighborhood, including early 20th century Craftsman and Folk Victorian style buildings, period-specific materials, native plants and design detail that evokes this rich era in Dallas' past.
Existing trees will be preserved and supplemented by a variety of canopy trees throughout the site. A central green space and courtyard will accommodate events and outdoor dining.
The district also sits adjacent to one of the most heavily traveled intersections in the area at Maple and Oak Lawn avenues and is easily accessible off of the Dallas North Tollway.
18th & Vine Barbeque will be part of a complex called the Maple Avenue Dining District.
