The 411: The eighth annual culinary extravaganza (whose name translates to "good health") featured an impressive slate of celebrity chefs raising funds for the National Kidney Foundation. Hosted by William Koval, executive chef of Lakewood Country Club, and host committee chair Amber Harrell, the event featured a food and wine showcase, unique tastings with wine pairings, silent and live auctions, and live entertainment.
Participating chefs and restaurants at included John Kleifgen of Nick & Sam's Steakhouse; Willie Singleton, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse; Mike Barraza, House of Blues; Daniel Menchaca, The Rustic; Bruce Wills, IdleRye; Justin Creel, The Oceanaire; Greg Wallace, Omni Dallas; and more.
Real Housewives star LeeAnn Locken emceed the program and welcomed special guests, including Neil Foote, president of the National Kidney Foundation North Texas, and Kevin Longino, CEO of the National Kidney Foundation. Special recognition went to Betty Osborne, wife of the late Burl Osborne, the namesake for the Burl Osborne Awareness Award. This year the award went to corporate recipient Tarrant Nephrology Associates for its outstanding support of kidney disease and awareness-related efforts.
The Gift of Life award was presented to Erin Gossett, who donated a kidney to her father, John Gossett. And in a moving moment, Christina Rossini shared her story about donating one of her kidneys to Sandra Lopez, and how the two women remain dear friends.
