Sunny socialites light up the Adolphus for Dress 4 Yellow fashion show and luncheon
The forecast was sunny inside the elegant Adolphus for the second annual Dress 4 Yellow fashion show and luncheon. Fabulously dressed guests walked a bold yellow carpet as they ventured inside for the fashionable fundraiser that benefits local and national cancer programs.
Dressed-in-yellow sophisticates — including Doris Jacobs, Teffy Jacobs, Ron Corning, Betsy Price, Charlotte Anderson, John Piermarini, Jocelyn White, Gene Jones and Lynae Fearing — crowded the French Room for a VIP reception. After saying their hellos, they moved to the foyer to bid on apropos silent auction items such as vintage jewelry, Mizzen+Main dress shirts and Roma boots.
During the reception, guests filled out cards honoring loved ones who have suffered from cancer; the cards were later displayed in the luncheon ballroom. Once inside the ballroom for the vintage-inspired fashion show, LeeAnne Locken, Christopher Wright and D’Andra Simmons were caught mingling with advisory committee members Skye Brewer, Steve Kemble, Abi Ferrin, Tiffany Derry and Dahni Jones.
As soon as co-chair Lee Nagel took center stage, the chatty crowd turned quiet. “Together everyone achieves more,” she said, after thanking those who helped make the event possible. “We’re fighting against cancer — children’s cancer and every kind of cancer,” Nagel added, referring to beneficiaries Cook Children’s Cancer Center and Livestrong Foundation.
The first looks in the runway show, courtesy of Nike Golf, evoked a super-chic Caddyshack vibe. But we were breathless over the Commonwealth Couture black dress beautifully worn by cancer survivor Dawn Mellon and an Alice+Olivia yellow sequined dress worn by survivor Jennifer Cloutier.
Other models in the Bret McKinney-produced show donned yellow ensembles by high-fashion designers such as KaufmanFranco, Valentino, Chadwick Bell, Naeem Khan, David Peck and Escada. Once the bright show dimmed, guests gathered for a lovely lunch.
