A Modern Masterpiece
Cantoni founder's legendary Dallas home hits market for $3 million
If you own a furniture company (and not just any furniture company, but one of the nation’s leading furniture companies), then you obviously have an eye for design. And if you have an eye for design, then you probably have a pretty impressive home. There's that. Then there's the Cantoni castle, a modern masterpiece of a home built by Cantoni founder and CEO Michael Wilkov to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cantoni.
Located at 5903 Lakehurst Ave. in Preston Hollow, it was constructed in 2009 and was the home of Wilkov's dreams. Now, it's about to become some other lucky homeowner's dream home, because this museum-like listing has hit the market.
With this daring Dallas designer at the helm, each room was executed in a way that only Wilkov could manage — one that turns each room into a showpiece. For example, the interior was intentionally left as a white, blank canvas so that it could properly showcase art. No stuffy rooms here — only open spaces that lead to more open spaces.
At 7,771 square feet, the home has five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. The stand out spaces in the home, however, are those meant for entertaining, like the kitchen, which is outfitted with state-of-the-art appliances from Bontempi Cucine and features a 22-foot-long island that serves as the heart of the home.
Continuing with the theme, there's also a second-floor theater and entertaining space that boasts a wet bar, tables, TVs, and comfy couches, and a porch decked out with statement making patio furniture and overlooking the property's oh-so-impressive pool.
The outdoor space is a contemporary oasis featuring an all-turf yard, pool, hot tub, and various works of art. People can move effortlessly into the backyard via floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open from the kitchen and family room.
"This property is truly one of a kind," says Dave Perry-Miller listing agent Megan Stern. "I feel like this is two houses with the indoor/outdoor possibilities. The outdoor space is very livable and usable, and there is nothing else like it on the market."
In fact, chances are this house is no longer on the market at all, as Stern updated us that there was already an executed contract despite its $2,995,000 price tag. But to the right buyer, purchasing this priceless piece of art is a deal to steal at any cost.
