"Women and Icons" is a multi-cultural celebration of women through time, both a visual art exhibition and performance. Over two years, 12 local artists explored themes of female iconic representation and artistic movement in contemporary and historic times. They blended the ideas, showcased through photographic imagery, into an exhibition created and curated by conceptual artist Kristin Colaneri.
The artist collective includes Colaneri, Ashley Ragsdale, Rachel Harrah, Lee Walter, Victoria Cruz, Havilah Bender, Monet Lerner, Alondra Liz Estremera, Monalisa Amidar, Frida Espinosa Müller, Tahsina Yusuf, and Sorany Gutierrez; photography by Debra Gloria & Can Turkyilmaz.
The exhibition will be on view at the Vickery Park Library April 22-30 and at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center May 2-14, with live performances on May 10 and 11 at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center.
